Vermont Home Repair is lead by Kurt Thoma, an experienced carpenter and handymen based in Barre, Vermont. He specializes in Creative Thinking, Window/Door Installation, Wood Rot Repair, Drywall Repair, Electrical, Appliance Repair, Lighting, Plumbing, Plaster and Lath Repair, and many other aspects of home construction and repair. Kurt takes pride in his work and always strives to provide the highest quality of service to his clients.
Early years
Kurt was raised on a farm where he quickly learned the value of hard work and honest deals. In college, he ventured into theatre, arts, and creativity where he learned the art of aesthetics and creating varying environments on stage through, carpentry, lighting, painting and furnishings. His stagecraft skills were soon elevated into the 'real world'. While still a college student, he purchased a delipidated income property that he gutted and renovated between classes and on weekends.
Handyman around the world
While still in college, Kurt was quickly sought out for numerous home repairs and remodeling projects. Kurt has gutted and remodeled 3 complete homes, built one home from the ground up, has remodeled and tiled numerous bathrooms, and worked on hundreds of home projects and home repairs. He even 'paid' for a trip around the world through remodeling and construction work in Alaska, Hawaii, New Zealand, and the Philippines.
Past to Present
Kurt has had a 25 year career in Arts, Management, and Education, which has limited him to work as a carpenter to evenings and weekends. He is now shifting into carpentry and handyman work full-time so he can bring his skills, passion, eye for detail, and dedication to you and your home.
